Metro Manille’s high society witnessed the explosive “Bench Uncut” fashion show during the sizzling night that reunited the stars of ABS-CBN and GMA7 networks. It was a glitzy evening, in which alluring people and stars of the biggest network stations gathered round.

The Bench underwear show held every year is a chance to tastefully flaunt skin to enthusiastic audience. This year’s “Bench Uncut” was divided into five global parts that expound worldwide beauty and converge various looks from different lifestyles. Global and futuristic were the themes for the denim and underwear show, for instance.

The annual show winded up recently at the Araneta Coliseum celebrating Bench’s 23rd anniversary, as well as its goal of becoming a truly international brand in the next decade.

The most awaited event used over a hundred male models, 50 female models, and 70 dancers, not including the biggest and the brightest names in show business.

Aptly called, “A Bold Look at the Future,” the show provided a peek into the fashion forecast for the 2020s. A gigantic stage was set up with large video screens and two pedestals with hydraulic lifts. The show likewise featured four Middle East-trained haute couture designers — Cory Santiago, Doro Brandino, Ezra Santos, Michael Cinco — whoshared their take on the five reference continents of Asia, Latin America, and Europe.

Hunk actor Dingdong Dantes started off the show waving the Philippine flag and was joined by modern Maria Claras with ebony cat-eyes and candy pink lips. Dantes was very much covered this time, unlike his strip stint two years ago.

The China segment featured noxious warriors with raven hair and intense lips. The love team of telenovela prince and princess, Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu closed the Far East and China portion with China’s top male model, Ji Huan Bo.

The South American part was opened by the sexy and controversial actress Katrina Halili, followed by Carl Guevarra, Benjamin Tang, Rafael Rossel and Andrew Wolf. Top comedian Pokwang had a surprise appearance, no less.

This segment was drenched with multihued pastels befitting the South American-themed garb while the African part had the models in regal gold and copper harmonizing the neck pieces and festooned garments. A line of naked men paraded, and joining in this part of the show were beauty queen/actress Margaret Wilson with comebacking actor Railey Velerorosos, the R&B prince Jay-R, actor model Victor Aliwalas, and young comedian Thou Reyes.

The last part was the Russian take that had real-life “Matryoshka” dolls parading with porcelain skin, overstated blush, and glossed lips. Print and commercial model Georgina Wilson, in a Cinderella-like carriage, appeared with models in their undies and escorteding her way down. The other celebrities who showed up were TV personalities JC de Vera, Francheska Farr and Geoff Taylor.

The Dubai-based designers shouldered every crystal, feather and fabric, and even the underwear and jeans were accessorized with materials manufactured in the Middle East. They truly exerted great effort and shared their pleasure to be part of the show and at the same time introduced their design skills to Filipinos back home.

Among the scene stealers of the night was actor Jake Cuenca who unabashedly showed his behind during the show’s surprise finale. For many years it was actor Richard Gomez who was the show’s final salvo. Other high points were the much-awaited abs exposure of balladeer Christian Bautista, singer Karylle’s sexy grinds, the godly bodies of actors Diether Ocampo and Wendell Ramos, and actress Kim Chiu’s fantasy-inspired gown.

Other celebrities who romped on the ramp included Enchong Dee, Iya Villana, John Pratts, Ejay Falcon, Rayver Cruz, Shaina Magdayao, Jon Avila, Zanjoe Marudo, Aljur Abrenica, Kris Bernal, Sam Pinto, Jason Francisco, Melai Cantiveros, and Coco Martin.
