Walnut Creek, California- It was a full house last Saturday at Tice Valley Gymnasium where TV 5’s Kapatid Playoffs was held. Hundreds of people showed their love and support for Benjie Paras, an actor and a retired PBA player to win the MVP and Rookie of the Year at the same time. His son Kobe Paras, a 6’6’’
tall shooting guard who recently accepted a scholarship at UCLA to pursue his basketball career. And also for James Yap, who is currently playing Forward for Purefoods Star Hotshots.
Hosting the event was no other than Franco Finn, aka “Hype Man” to the Golden State Warriors’ fans. The event consisted of four different categories of games in which local players or fans who joined could show off their skills and talents.
Benjie Paras was the one who observed the skills challenge event and gave the players some advice. James Yap assisted the players for the 3-point shoot out on the play offs and Kobe showed fans how he does a slam-dunk and left them in awe.
Following was a meet and greet where everyone patiently lined up and waited for their turn to get autographs and pictures with their favorite basketball players. The event was followed by the presentation of awards for the winners of the competition. Skills Challenge Champion, Benjie Paras awarded Miko Salumbides.
